Modern Pilates is a movement method that is based on the original works of Joseph Pilates, whose philosophy was that exercise should integrate both mind and body. His techniques were a combination of physical and mental conditioning that educated the whole body and mind with the aim of improving fitness and sustaining well-being. Geared to both men and women, Modern Pilates adapts the original moves to incorporate modern fitness research and rehabilitation techniques. Physiotherapists and fitness experts are constantly using recent research and knowledge about safe and effective exercise for the general population, to develop and update the Modern Pilates method of movement.

Alison Walker
Alison became a Modern Pilates Teacher after many years of teaching dance and fitness. She enjoys helping people to improve their lives by assisting them to achieve better posture, strength and stability so that they can lead active, (and where possible) pain free, healthy, happy lives. Teaching Dance and Fitness alongside Pilates enables Alison to share her passion and love for life and movement with people of all ages. The combination of teaching these different practical activities assists Alison in use her mind, body and knowledge of the power of movement, in a positive, motivational way that helps people both physically and spiritually. She enjoys helping people find clarity, peace of mind, fulfilment and happiness through learning more about their bodies and the movement they can achieve. |
